Welcome to Our School

Welcome to The Children's Courtyard for North Plainfield, Illinois! We are located at the corner of 127th Street and 248th Avenue. Our early childhood education program offers classes for children ages six weeks through 12 years old in our Infant, Toddlers, Two's, Early Preschool, Preschool, Pre-k, Junior Kindergarten, Before and After School programs.

Our talented staff members at the school have many years of experience in the field and partake in various training opportunities throughout the year including CPR and First Aid, to maintain their DCFS required annual training for daycare staff. Each set of classroom teachers puts their special flair into their childcare curriculum which is based on High Scope philosophy!

We are committed to keeping you connected throughout the day while your child is in our care. Families have access to live streaming video of their child’s classroom, plus other real-time updates, with our exclusive mobile app for families, Sprout About. Assessments are completed throughout the year, and we offer family conferences twice a year to share your child’s progress in the program.

For our Before and After School programs we bus to the following Elementary Schools: District 202 Eagle Point, Freedom, Lincoln and Walkers Grove, District 204 Peterson (A.M. ONLY) and District 308 Prairie Point (P.M. ONLY).

At The Children’s Courtyard in Plainfield, Illinois, Charlene Hough is a special Lead Teacher whose passion and purpose for her career has soared to exceptional levels. In her classroom, Charlene focuses on creating a joyful and enriching space for toddlers to thrive. “Even though they may not remember me years from now,” she says, “I hope that during their time in my classroom, they develop patience, confidence to explore, creativity, and a love for learning with their friends.”

Janaye Resendiz, Director

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Science with concentration in Child Psychology and Health

Certifications: CPR & First Aid, ServSafe Food Handler

Janaye Resendiz began with Learning Care Group in 2018 as a preschool teacher and worked her way up to director! Janaye is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children and their families. Her goal is to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of children and working with staff to create a warm and inspiring environment.

Amy Shah, Assistant Director

Education: Bachelor Science in Elementary Education with Early Education & Kindergarten Endorsements

Certifications: CPR & First Aid, ServSafe Food Handler

Amy has been in the Early Childhood Education field since 1996 and has experience working with all age groups. Amy started here in 2014 as a teacher and later became the Team Lead, Safety Captain and Bus Driver for our School-Age children! Amy was promoted to Assistant Director in February 2024 and is looking forward to learning new tasks as she continues to grow in the profession. She loves to work with children and families. She can't wait to help your children learn and grow!

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Family Consumer Sciences/Child Development

Certifications: CPR & First Aid

Kristin received her Bachelor’s Degree in Family Consumer Sciences/Child Development from Illinois State University. Kristin has over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages. Kristin loves to do messy activities with children and reading great stories to inspire their imagination.

Justine Prior, Team Lead

Education: CDA and currently pursuing Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education

Certifications: CPR & First Aid

Justine received her CDA in 2019 and is seeking an Associate's Degree from Penn Foster. Justine began working her career working with children in 2014. She has experience working with children of all age groups. Justine looks forward to helping each child attain their milestones and be prepared for life!
