It’s true that Kindergarten is a big step for every child — and if your child has been at The Children’s Courtyard, they have been preparing for it longer than they know. But even if your child is enrolling in our child care for the first time, our teachers’ number one priority in Pre-K is making sure your child has the skills to excel in Kindergarten and beyond.
Our teachers understand that the attitude children develop about school will follow them all through their academic years. That’s why we implement the Frog Street Pre-K curriculum developed by renowned curricular expert Pam Schiller, Ph.D. It’s based on current Texas Pre-K guidelines and supported by an impressive body of research on how young children develop early literacy, math and pre-reading skills. It’s already helping thousands of preschoolers develop the skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten. And doing so in an environment where every child feels safe and loved.
Frog Street Pre-K will teach your child:
Frog Street Pre-K’s approach to learning is fun-filled and hands-on. Fanny Frog, an endearing puppet friend, will be your child’s loving and joyful guide to learning. Each Pre-Kindergarten classroom is a warm and inviting environment arranged in these learning centers:
Frog Street Pre-K also develops all the skills necessary for long-term educational success: self-confidence, curiosity, self-control, and more.
But it’s how these skills are taught that sets Frog Street Pre-K apart. Skills are taught through music, activities, games, make-believe and hands-on materials. Each day at Frog Street Pre-K starts with the Greeting Circle. Children sing, learn calming and stress-relieving techniques through the implementation of Conscious Discipline strategies and get a chance to connect with their classmates. The Greeting Circle is followed each day by a Moving and Learning activity, where important skills are taught through singing, dancing and games.
Language and literacy are taught daily through the use of engaging themes as well as listening and participation activities that promote:
Lessons are short, focused on simple topics and emphasize hands-on activities. Each lesson builds upon the previous lesson. Complexity is added a bit at a time. This time-tested instructional strategy enables even Pre-K students to master difficult skills and concepts.
Coupled with the Frog Street curriculum, the Pre-K classroom implements the High Scope curricular framework which supports a daily routine that actively involves children in a PLAN, DO, REVIEW process; encouraging cognitive processing and development.
Accelerated Pre-Kindergarten is a comprehensive school readiness program that provides enhanced curricular offerings to children who are 4 ½ years old by September 1, and may not be age eligible for entry into Kindergarten. Learn more about this exclusive program.
