At this age, our teachers help channel the natural active nature of children into excitement about learning. Teachers observe and get familiar with each child’s abilities and interests, and supplement the High/Scope Active Learning Framework® with a curriculum based on The Complete Resource for Toddlers and Twos®. Each developmentally appropriate activity is designed to keep children interested and help them develop.
Children can study board books on their own, and teachers read to children every day either individually or in small groups. Shelves are labeled in pictures to assist children in accessing and putting away materials. Children’s artwork, their names, and pictures of diverse people and families are displayed throughout the room.
It’s a comfortable, inviting atmosphere that makes the most of learning opportunities and self-direction. Teachers engage, guide and counsel children, yet allow them the freedom to explore on their own. And we make sure parents stay informed and involved, with daily reports and two parent/ teacher conferences per year.
